Report: Play-off final defeat is 'good news' for Premier League club as they eye Leeds 27-year-old on loan

Leeds United’s defeat to Southampton in the play-off final could mean Victor Orta’s loan army are allowed to leave Elland Road on loan once again and it is good news for a Premier League club.

Last summer, Orta’s loan clause meant players with the inclusion in their contract could leave Leeds on loan without the club being able to reject it and therefore, sell those players and bring in some cash.

Jack Harrison and Luis Sinisterra remained in England, while Max Wober, Brenden Aaronson and Robin Koch went to Germany. Marc Roca to Spain, while Rasmus Kristensen and Diego Llorente joined Roma.

It left Leeds in a tricky position and now, it remains unclear if that clause remains active with Leeds having to do another season in The Championship after failing to win the play-off final at Wembley on Sunday.

The Independent deliver an update and it is not a positive one for Daniel Farke’s side, but is ‘good news’ for Everton. They say that those with the clause are now allowed to go out on loan for a second time.

Good news for Everton in pursuit of Jack Harrison deal

Everton are keen to keep Harrison after a solid season under Sean Dyche at Goodison Park. The club’s sporting director, Kevin Thelwell, has said that Everton are working on a deal with Leeds for the winger.

The Toffees are also confident of getting a deal done. But the latest report is bad news for Leeds, in that Everton are keen to sign Harrison on loan again and can now do so, after Leeds lost in the play-off final.

Defeat to Southampton now means the eight players that left on loan last summer can leave on loan again and Leeds cannot stop them. Harrison then, is able to rejoin Dyche’s Everton on loan until 2025.

Harrison might not be only Leeds player that joins Everton

It might not only be Harrison that ends up at Everton from Leeds this summer. Indeed, reports on Tuesday state that Willy Gnonto could be targeted by The Toffees again, after he was linked last summer.

Italy ace Gnonto started and lasted slightly over the hour mark on Sunday but within 24 hours of the defeat, reports stated he wanted to return to his home country after Leeds failed to achieve promotion.

Now, Everton could make a move for a player that refused to play for Leeds in three games back in August after Leeds refused his exit to Merseyside. He could team up with Harrison, under Dyche.
