Leeds now have perfect chance to sign 'outstanding' player in swap deal for Crysencio Summerville - opinion

Liverpool, Chelsea and Bayer Leverkusen are just some of the teams who have already been linked with a move for Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville this summer.

Summerville will reportedly be one of the first to leave Leeds when the window opens following Sunday’s disappointing Championship play-off final defeat to Southampton.

The 22-year-old enjoyed a phenomenal individual campaign that saw him crowned the Championship’s POTS last month, and his performances have not gone unnoticed.

49ers Enterprises have acknowledged key sales will have to be made after Leeds’ failure to win promotion, and unfortunately, Summerville is a player who falls under that category.

Though Summerville hasn’t ever once publicly pushed for a move, he will certainly be feeling it is the right time to take the next step in his career.

Leeds should push for Fabio Carvalho in Liverpool Summerville talks

As mentioned, Liverpool are one of the sides who are said to have been scouting him this season, and the appointment of Arne Slot as their manager may push that into a concrete move.

Slot is a fellow Dutch compatriot of Summerville‘s and given both have a history at Feyenoord, it would be a move that makes sense.

Leeds are expected to demand in excess of £30 million to sell Summerville but they have the perfect chance to execute a player plus cash deal with Liverpool if they do make their move.

Having been targeted by Leeds in January, Fabio Carvalho could once again be in for an uncertain future at Liverpool and so it would be a no brainer to take advantage.

Leeds could lower the asking price for Summerville slightly by trying to take Carvalho on loan for a season, who proved at Hull City he is top class at this level.

After joining the Tigers on loan in January, he scored nine goals in 20 appearances and is a player who can play both off the left, or as a number 10.

With that in mind, Leeds would be getting a direct replacement for Summerville, without having to spend a single penny on a transfer fee, which would cost a ridiculous amount to get the same level of output he produced this season.

Why didn’t Leeds sign Carvalho in January?

As mentioned, the ‘outstanding‘ Carvalho was a player Leeds were actually looking at signing in January, be he instead made the move to Hull City.

The reason for that was simply down to a guarantee of game time at the Tigers, which Leeds simply couldn’t offer at the time.

However, with the players that could be exiting Leeds this summer, there is no doubt that he would absolutely walk into the side for next season.

He is exactly the sort of player Leeds should be after if they want to rebuild a squad ready for another promotion push.
