Intelligence monitors exercises in Belarus to understand the potential threat to Ukraine, according to the spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Andrii Demchenko.
"Recently, there have been no actions against Ukraine from the territory of Belarus, and fortunately, Russia does not have ground units there that could currently pose a threat to our country," he said.
According to him, intelligence units from both the Ministry of Defense and the State Border Guard Service are monitoring activities in Belarus, including any exercises.
The spokesperson reported that joint exercises are currently being conducted, and intelligence is keeping a close watch "to understand the extent of the threat they may pose to Ukraine."
"But at the moment, we do not observe any change in the situation," Demchenko said.
Military drills in Belarus
On May 17, joint exercises of the air force and air defense with Russia began in Belarus. The exercises will continue until May 31.
The Center for Countering Disinformation said that Russia is intensifying information and psychological operations (IPSO) about the alleged opening of a second front from Belarus. The goal is to incite panic in Ukraine.
