Juventus make first offer for Liverpool target who has just won a European trophy

Liverpool will undoubtedly need to strengthen various areas of their squad ahead of the new season, but it won’t be easy.

The Anfield hierarchy will be drawing up a shortlist for new manager Arne Slot, who will also have ideas of how he wants his team to look.

He has been boosted by the fact that the Reds will return to the Champions League, having finished third in the Premier League.

Participation in Europe’s premier competition should help Liverpool in their pursuit of top players as they look to make a successful Champions League comeback.

And one man that they have identified is Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopmeiners, with Fabrizio Romano recently saying on The Daily Briefing that the Reds have been interested in the 26-year-old for some time.

Juventus make first offer for Teun Koopmeiners

Liverpool’s chase of the Netherlands international – who has 21 caps – has, however, already hit a stumbling block.

Atalanta’s Serie A rivals Juventus are also interested in his signature, and according to Calciomercato have now made an offer for the midfielder.

He has enjoyed a superb season for his current club, with Koopmeiners playing a key role as the Italian club lifted the Europa League.

The Netherlands ace boasts 15 goals and seven assists from midfield across all competitions, having made a huge 50 appearances.

Can the Netherlands connection help Liverpool win the race?

There is, of course, a very strong Netherlands connection at Anfield, which may just help the Reds win the race for the signature of Koopmeiners this summer.

Captain Virgil van Dijk, midfielder Ryan Gravenberch and attacker Cody Gakpo are all Netherlands internationals, while their compatriot Sepp van den Berg may just have a future at Anfield after impressing on loan at Mainz.

Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville meanwhile, who also hails from the Netherlands, is reportedly another transfer target for the Reds.
