100 Day Bulldog Countdown: 95 Days – No. 95 Gabe Moore

Mississippi State DL Gabe Moore

Jeff Lebby’s era of Mississippi State football has arrived.

The Bulldogs are on their third coach in as many years as Mike Leach’s tragic passing opened the door for defensive coordinator Zach Arnett’s debut as head coach last year. That experiment failed before the year even ended for State and now it’s Lebby’s turn to take the wheel.

While there is always a risk in hiring first time head coaches, Lebby brings to Starkville an exciting offensive scheme that has been productive everywhere he’s been. The coach has also brought with him some swagger that has the fanbase ready to see what’s next.

Over the course of the next 100 days, we will take a look at Lebby’s roster and even some fun historical rewinds that will bring back memories for Dawg fans of all ages.

Today, we take a look at a player that should be asked to help the Bulldogs on the defensive line this year.

100 Day Bulldog Countdown: 95 Days – No. 95, RFr. DL Gabe Moore

Coming from one of the best programs in the state of Mississippi, Moore knows a thing or two about winning.

The former Louisville Wildcat won two state championships during his time in Winston county and he’s brought that winning mentality to Starkville. Moore is the younger brother of former four-star defensive lineman and State commit Charles Moore, but is already bigger than his older brother at 6’4, 290 pounds.

As a senior in high school, Moore racked up the statistics during a dominant season for the Wildcats. Moore had 116 tackles, 39.0 tackles for loss, 12.0 sacks, five forced fumbles and two pass breakups as he was virtually unblockable in Class 4A.

His performance in the team’s state title game against Poplarville helped LHS win a state title as he made eight tackles with 2.0 TFL and had a forced fumble in the fourth quarter that would lead to the game-winning field goal.

The three-star DL was ranked No. 17 in the state by On3 and the No. 71 player in the country. He was committed to Troy before opening up his recruitment. After winning his state title game, he decided to be a Bulldog.

Moore got a chance to redshirt last season but should be asked to get some playing time for the Bulldogs this year. We’ll see in fall camp exactly where Moore sits in the pecking order, but the potential is there for him to help the team in the next couple of seasons.
