‘Mentioned to me’: Journalist has heard Tottenham could try to sign ‘terrific’ Aston Villa player

Tottenham Hotspur have a few issues they need to address this summer.

Spurs need to add more quality to their squad, but perhaps what is more pressing is that they need to add more homegrown players.

Indeed, Spurs need more homegrown talent in order to comply with Premier League and Europa League registration rules.

Tottenham have already been linked with a number of domestic-based players, and now, speaking on the Ranks FC Ultras Podcast, Dean Jones has stated that Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey could be a player Tottenham look at.

Tottenham could look at Jacob Ramsey

Jones shared what he knows about Spurs’ plans and the ‘terrific‘ midfielder.

“Keep an eye on other good opportunities for homegrown talents. You’ve seen that they’ve been in conversations for Tosin and Lloyd Kelly, so look out for Jacob Ramsey for example from Villa,” Jones said.

“He’s been mentioned to me before as someone Tottenham would have a look at because of the profile, the status, where they stand in the squad set-up and that would be very interesting to them.”

Jacob Ramsey a great option

Tottenham could do much worse than Jacob Ramsey if they’re looking to add more homegrown talent to their squad.

The Aston Villa midfielder is a real talent, and at the age of just 23, he has lots of room to grow and improve.

He’s very tidy on the ball, and he loves to get forward – suiting Ange Postecoglou to a tee.

It will be interesting to see which other midfielders Spurs target if they sign Ramsey. After all, a midfielder including both Ramsey and James Maddison would be rather unbalanced unless there was a high-quality defensive midfield option tucked in behind.

Whether or not Spurs push on with this move remains to be seen, but it sounds as though homegrown players may be the order of the day at Tottenham.
