The Parliament of Georgia on Tuesday, May 28, overrode President Salome Zurabishvili's veto and finally adopted the law On Transparency of Foreign Influence, according to the Echo of the Caucasus.
As reported, 66 deputies voted against Zurabishvili's reasoned remarks. 84 deputies voted to override the President's veto, while 4 voted against it.
According to the Constitution of Georgia, the law is now transmitted to the President for three days. Zurabishvili has five days to sign and publish it.
If she refuses to sign, the law will be signed and published by the Speaker of Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, within five days.
Thus, the law on foreign agents in Georgia will come into force at the beginning of June.

In May, the Georgian Parliament, whose ruling party includes the pro-Russian Georgian Dream, approved the controversial draft law on foreign agents.
The adoption process of the draft law was accompanied by massive protests outside the parliament in central Tbilisi, as well as criticism from Western countries.
President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili vetoed the draft law. As reported earlier, the document was returned to the Parliament, and if the deputies pass it again, it will automatically come into force.
