Cesc Fabregas says one former Barcelona midfielder is better than Kevin De Bruyne

Cesc Fabregas has said that one former Barcelona player is better than Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne.

In his playing career, the former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder made 350 appearances in the Premier League and featured in 151 games for Barcelona, 48 of which were under Pep Guardiola.

Having won numerous trophies for club and country, the Spaniard certainly knows what it takes to be and play alongside top-level players.

Now though, the 37-year-old has been sharing his thoughts on some well-known midfielders from the past and present, with one current City star finding himself going head-to-head with another iconic midfield star who knows what it takes to play under Guardiola.

In a recent video shared on the official Goal TikTok channel, Fabregas was tasked with a winner-stays-on challenge where he had to pick between certain past and present midfielders.

When asked to pick between Andres Iniesta and Kevin De Bruyne, Fabregas went for the Spaniard.

In fact, Iniesta was one of the first two choices the former midfielder had to pick between and ended up picking his former Barcelona teammates until the end of the challenge, putting him above other options such as Zinedine Zidane, Xavi and Andrea Pirlo among others.

De Bruyne vs Iniesta

During his time with Barcelona, Iniesta scored 57 goals and provided 136 assists in 674 appearances across all competitions.

In 382 appearances for City, De Bruyne has found the back of the net 102 times and supplied 170 assists along the way.

Having played in 108 games together at Barcelona, racking up 10 joint goal participations along the way, it’s easy to see why Fabregas picked Iniesta over the City star, even though the Belgian has made more goal contributions in fewer games at the Manchester club than the Spaniard did at Barcelona.
