Spain will provide Ukraine with additional air defense to defend against Russian attacks, stated President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at a joint press conference with Prime Minister of Portugal Luis Montenegro.

"As for Spain, for example, I would draw attention to this, we did have relevant agreements, and there will be additional air defense for specific systems and specific missiles," Zelenskyy said.

He also clarified that he did not want to disclose details until the systems were delivered to Ukraine.

Patriot from Spain

Russian army intensified shelling of Ukraine several months ago. The enemy uses ballistic missiles for attacks. To destroy such targets, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have only the Patriot air defense systems.

Against this background, Ukraine appealed to Western partners to provide additional Patriot batteries.

On April 26, the media reported that Spain had categorically refused to provide Ukrainian defenders with Patriots, despite requests from Western countries.
