Robert De Niro's impassioned defense of Washington D.C. cops who protected the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021 triggered supporters of former President Donald Trump, who surrounded the Oscar-winning actor as he left a press conference outside Manhattan criminal court Tuesday.
The moment was captured on video — and shared byTrump on Truth Social.
The MAGA supporters hurled insults at De Niro as he tried to leave a press conference condemning Trump's re-election campaign outside the courthouse where the former president stands accused of falsifying business records to cover up hush money paid to an adult film star.

According to NBC News, the pro-Trump protesters shouted "wannabe" and "paid sell-out" to the Democratic National Committee, "nobody" and a "little punk" whose "movies suck" as the actor made his way to a waiting car.
De Niro replied succinctly: "F--- you."
The Academy Award winner had appeared at a press conference for President Joe Biden's campaign alongside Capitol Hill cop Harry Dunn, who protected the Capitol when MAGA rioters stormed the building more than three years ago.
"Brave men and women from law enforcement put their lives on the line to defend this country," DeNiro said. "These guys are the true heroes. They stood and put their lives on the line for these low lives, for Trump."
Trump's supporters interjected by calling the officers liars and traitors.
"I don't even know how to deal with you, my friend," DeNiro replied. "I don't even know how to deal with you."

The pro-Trump protesters followed De Niro to his car after the protester ended, according to NBC News, prompting De Niro to give dealing with them another try.
"You're washed up," one protester yelled.
"You're not going to intimidate...that's what Trump does," De Niro reportedly said. "We are going to fight back. We're trying to be gentlemen in this world, the Democrats. You are gangsters."
De Niro also reportedly had a fan in the crowd who shouted out amid the chaos, “I loved you in 'Taxi Driver'!”
