We finally have a 2024 NCAA Baseball Tournament bracket in our hands, featuring 16 regional host sites with four different teams in each of those.
Right now, we’ll be taking a look at the Lexington Regional, hosted by one of nearly a dozen SEC representatives in the tournament, Kentucky. The Wildcats not only earned the right to host a regional, but are also the No. 2 overall seed, meaning they’ll host a super regional as well if they’re able to advance past this weekend.

As for how likely that scenario is, the folks at DraftKings already have odds out on each of the four teams in the Lexington Regional to win and advance to the supers. Take a look right here at those odds:
Kentucky (-155)
Indiana State (+260)
Illinois (+550)
Western Michigan (+1800)
No surprise that the No. 2 overall seed leads the way as a pretty strong favorite at -155. Only Tennessee (-280) and Arkansas (-190) are heavier favorites to win their respective regionals than the Wildcats.
Like with the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, there was much debate centered around how to handle Indiana State. The Sycamores are from a much smaller conference than most of the other top seeds, but on one hand, still had the numbers to make the case as a regional seed. Well, not only was ISU not made a regional host, they just got sent down to Lexington to battle against the No. 2 seed for their path to the super regional.
Before worrying about the Wildcats, though, Indiana State has a meeting with the Big Ten regular season champions, Illinois, to worry about. Meanwhile, Western Michigan gets Kentucky out of the gate, and the Broncos are only 18-1 long shots to win the regional, as opposed to some other No. 4 seeds who are well over 20-1.
As for Kentucky, the Wildcats are enjoying perhaps their best season of the century on the baseball diamond, and certainly in the last 15 years. Two years after Mitch Barnhart’s decision to keep Nick Mingione as coach was considered slightly controversial, Mingione has now lead back to back years with the ‘Cats hosting a regional.
Kentucky has still never been to Omaha for the College World Series, but this group of Bat Cats has the best shot of any team yet in school history.
