Edu Gaspar admits one 'strange' thing at Arsenal has now left him really frustrated

Arsenal enjoyed yet another positive season of progress under Mikel Arteta, but fell just short of the title again.

The Gunners went toe to toe with Manchester City, but fell just short in the title race as they finished two points behind, but can nevertheless be proud of the season they have had.

Technical director Edu Gaspar has also had a huge hand in Arsenal’s productive campaign, as his transfer strategy has helped build a top-quality young squad, which Arteta has taken to heights unimaginable even as recently as two years ago.

However, whilst there are a lot of positives from the campaign, Edu has now admitted his frustration that Arsenal could not triumph over City despite their outstanding form in 2024.

Edu Gaspar praises Arsenal but shares Man City frustration

Speaking in an interview with Brazilian outlet Estadao, Edu admitted that the end of the title race did frustrate him, given how well Arsenal played in that time.

“It’s a strange feeling, very strange, because we end the season with the feeling that we’ve done everything right,” he stated.

“From the signings and the goals to the renewals. Mikel did a great job and achieved the goals. We did everything we could, but it wasn’t enough.

“There’s frustration, but there’s also a positive feeling that the process was done well. The work was excellent.”

It is clear that the overall processes behind the club are running completely smoothly, and if everything had gone according to plan, Arsenal would likely have won the league.

Fine margins do unfortunately play a huge part in football. Arsenal lost just one game in 18 in 2024, which came in a shock 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa, and their performance in the first half saw them miss several good scoring chances.
