Kylian Mbappe has admitted he always dreamed of playing for Serie A giants AC Milan before he retires.

The Frenchman is leaving Paris Saint-Germain this summer upon the expiry of his contract and is widely expected to join Real Madrid on a free transfer, with confirmation of his future expected in the coming days.

While representing Madrid has always been a dream of Mbappe's, he has now admitted to Sky in Italy that Milan also hold a similar place in his heart.

"We don't know what could happen, when I was a child I was a Milan fan and I always said that one day I would play for them," he explained.

"I always watch Serie A and every Milan match because my family and I have always been fans. Serie A is a great championship and next year they will also have more teams than any other in the Champions League, maybe I will face some of them and come there."

Having now played his final game for PSG, Mbappe was keen to show his gratitude towards those who helped him enjoy his time in the French capital.

"I think that when you spend seven years at a club, you enjoy every moment you spend with the players, the fans," he said. "Of course there are also the goals and the trophies, but there are more important things like the relationships you have cultivated, being part of a team, things you don't forget in life.

"For me it was special and I am grateful for the opportunity to have been at PSG.

"As a child I dreamed of being a footballer. I had the dream of winning as many trophies as possible, but now with experience I think it is more important to give emotions, joy and inspire the people who watch you, your family, your teammates."
