“I remember the first time I ever met him and just hearing the way that he spoke and that he saw the team back when he was at Miami and these different things, you’re like, ‘Okay, this guy is gonna be a head coach sooner than later,'” Mac Lain said on the podcast. “Again, the timing for him, too and being at a place like SMU and the changes and the belief and the trust and the finances and resources and all these different things, where he doesn’t have to jump around to a bunch of different schools to get to the level of, ‘Ya, we’re competing with big boys.’ He’s there. He’s made it. I think he’s a great man, I think he’s a great coach, an offensive genius.”
