Florida superstar recruit DJ Lagway turned heads this spring with his terrific play on the gridiron in his first few months on campus. Now he’s doing it off the field, too.
The freshman phenom posted a collaboration video with Gatorade on Tuesday evening.
Lagway, of course, already has ties to the brand after he was named the Gatorade National Player of the Year for his 2023 season in high school. He was a consensus five-star prospect coming out of high school, widely regarded as one of the top recruits in the country.

DJ Lagway earned the Gatorade National Player of the Year honors at the end of an extremely successful high school career. In his 42 games with Willis High School, Lagway went 569-of-874 passing for 8,392 yards and 100 touchdowns. He also ran for 2,196 yards and 29 scores.
During his senior year alone Lagway threw for 4,604 yards and 58 touchdowns.
He fielded offers from just about every major program in the country and chose Florida above Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, LSU and Miami, among others.
Now at Florida, Lagway will have the chance to learn behind veteran Graham Mertz, which should help ease his transition to the college game. Florida will likely look to get Lagway involved at some level thanks to his sheer ability.
He flashed that ability during the team’s spring game, where his legs were on obvious display despite the game being non-contact for quarterbacks.
DJ Lagway finished the spring game 12-of-21 passing for 173 yards and two touchdowns, though he also threw one interception. He ran 12 times for -1 yard in total, with lost sack yardage also factored in. Lagway took six sacks in the game.
Prior to enrolling at Florida, DJ Lagway was ranked as a five-star prospect and the No. 3 overall player in the 2024 recruiting class nationally, according to the On3 Industry Rankings.
He also checked in as the No. 1 quarterback in the class and the No. 1 overall player from the state of Texas, hailing from Willis (TX) Willis.
