Europe is preparing for the first wave of heat, as unusually high temperatures are expected in Germany and Scandinavia next week. According to forecasts, the summer on the continent may turn out to be almost the hottest on record, reports Euronews.green.
Unusually high temperatures are expected to hit Germany and Scandinavia next week. Spain has released a new map for more accurate heat wave forecasting. Paris is worried about the safety of athletes at the Olympic Games, which are scheduled for July-August.
The record heat has been going on for 11 months. At the sea surface in the North Atlantic, the temperature is the highest in 40 years.
Although meteorologists cannot make forecasts for months ahead, as the weather in Europe is highly variable and influenced by many factors, they identify general trends based on past months and years.
According to a meteorologist in the Weather & Radar forecasting service Tamsin Green, June, July, and August currently tend to have above-average temperatures. The hot spots are likely to be in the south and east of Europe.

In June, Western Europe may experience average rainfall, above average rainfall for southern Europe in July but drier conditions in the east. August, is likely to be drier for much of the continent.
"In recent months, the air temperatures and ocean temperatures are still astronomically high," the meteorologist says.
One of the main factors that make summers in Europe hotter is climate change.
"The last ten years have been the ten warmest on record, with most of the Earth warming occurring in the last 40 years. We've seen April 2024 coming in as the 11th month in a row with the hottest on record," said Tamsin Green.
According to the latest data from the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the EU Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S), warming in Europe has been twice as high as the global average since 1991. The agencies warn that Europe needs to take more measures to reduce emissions and abandon fossil fuels.
According to the meteorologist, 2024 could be another year with record high temperatures.
