On the night of May 29, the defenders of Ukraine's skies shot down almost all Russian Shahed drones used by the Russian occupiers for another air attack, according to Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk, commander of the Ukrainian Air Force.

He notes that last night Russia launched a total of 14 Shahed-131/136 kamikaze drones across Ukraine, and launched them from the Russian city of Primorsko-Akhtarsk.

According to the general, the Russia's air attack was repelled by:

  • fighter aircraft,
  • anti-aircraft missile units of the Ukrainian Air Force,
  • mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces,
  • electronic warfare units.

Russian attack UAVs were eliminated in three regions.

“As a result of anti-aircraft combat, 13 Russian Shaheds were shot down in Mykolaiv, Kirovohrad, and Rivne regions,” says Oleshchuk.

Russian Shahed attacks on Ukraine

Russian invaders regularly use Iranian-made Shahed drones (they are labeled as Gheran) for air attacks on Ukraine.

For example, from the evening of May 28 to the middle of the night of May 29, several regions were on alert because the Russian occupiers had launched kamikaze drones.

And last night, while repelling an air attack, the defenders of Ukrainian skies destroyed 3 Russian Shaheds.
