The Swedish government has announced a new military aid package for Ukraine. It is the largest to date, worth more than SEK 13 billion ($1.3 billion), Sydsvenskan reports.

Today's military aid package will be the sixteenth in a row from Sweden since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The money, which will be included in the supplementary budget, will, among other things, strengthen Ukraine's air defense.

For example, Sweden will provide an ASC 890 radar reconnaissance and control aircraft, which will give Ukraine a completely new radar reconnaissance and combat control capability against targets in the air and at sea and strengthen its ability to engage targets in the long term. The aircraft also comes with training and technical equipment.

In addition, Sweden will donate its entire fleet of 302 armored personnel carriers to support the formation of new brigades of the Ukrainian army. The package also includes an Rb 99 fighter jet, as well as artillery ammunition and resources to maintain the previously transferred equipment.

Taking into account the funds presented today, Sweden has already provided support to Ukraine for SEK 43.5 billion.

Sweden's assistance to Ukraine

Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale aggression against Ukraine, Sweden has consistently taken a firm and consistent position, providing Kyiv with comprehensive assistance.

Earlier, Stockholm announced three-year military support for Ukraine for SEK 75 billion.
