Half of today's battles focused on Kupiansk and Pokrovsk directions - Ukraine's General Staff

Half of today's combat engagements took place in the Kupiansk and Pokrovsk sectors. The Ukrainian military is responding fiercely to Russia's assault, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

As of now, the number of combat clashes has exceeded 40. At the same time, Russian troops are most active in the Kupiansk and Pokrovsk sectors.

Situation in sectors

In the Kharkiv sector, Russia continues assault operations near Vovchansk.

In the Kupiansk sector, there were two Russian attempts to attack Ukrainian positions. Russian attacks were repelled near Petropavlivka and Stelmakhivka. In particular, fighting continues in the areas of Synkivka, Novoyehorivka, and Stepova Novoselivka. A total of 10 combat engagements were registered.

Russia also maintains a high intensity of attacks in the Pokrovsk sector. At the moment, fighting is taking place near Novoselivka Persha and in the areas of Prohres, Sokil, Novoselivka Persha, and Nevelske. A total of 16 firefights took place and are still ongoing.

In the Vremivka sector, Russia attacked with anti-aircraft guns in the area of Velyka Novosilka. Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled three Russian attempts to advance near Staromaiorske.

In the Orikhiv sector, Russians attacked twice near Mali Shcherbaky and once near Mala Tokmachka.

In the Prydniprovskyi sector, one enemy attack was repelled near Krynky.

Russia's offensive

Recently, Russia launched an offensive in the Kharkiv region, but due to the lack of success, the Russians are trying to expand the line of combat operations. According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Ukrainian soldiers were successful in counteroffensives in the Kharkiv region.

Meanwhile, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine has warned that the Russians may try to expand the combat zone on the border at any time.
