'Keen': Mauricio Pochettino is already eyeing one job after leaving Chelsea - journalist

Mauricio Pochettino left Chelsea by mutual consent last week.

He guided Chelsea to a sixth-placed finish in the Premier League table and got them back into Europe this season.

Nevertheless, Mauricio Pochettino and the Blues both decided to go their separate ways last Tuesday.

Enzo Maresca is now set to replace the Argentine in the Stamford Bridge dugout. According to the reliable Fabrizio Romano, Maresca has agreed a five-year contract with Chelsea.

Pochettino may now be without a job, but he could end up having to take on Maresca and his former side once the new season begins.

Mauricio Pochettino could remain in the Premier League

Right now, there are no top jobs in the Premier League currently available. However, that could soon change.

While Manchester United were able to win the FA Cup and claim Chelsea’s Europa League spot as a result, there is still uncertainty surrounding Erik ten Hag’s future at the club.

Journalist Ben Jacobs has claimed that United will make a decision on Ten Hag’s future and if it is not the decision that the Dutchman was hoping for, then Pochettino would be keen on succeeding him at Old Trafford.

On Substack, he wrote: “Mauricio Pochettino and Thomas Tuchel are both keen on the Manchester United job should a vacancy emerge, but the first task is to decide on Ten Hag.”

Roberto De Zerbi was keen on Mauricio Pochettino’s old job

While Pochettino appears to be keen on becoming United’s next boss, it looks like another unemployed manager, Roberto De Zerbi, wanted the post that he has just left.

It has been claimed that De Zerbi was eager to succeed Pochettino at Stamford Bridge and wanted to prove to the club that he was the right fit for the job.

After doing so well with Brighton & Hove Albion, guiding them to sixth place and the Europa League last season, the Italian could have been a good appointment for Chelsea.

In the end, though, they opted for his compatriot Maresca instead.
