'Trust the process': Forgotten Wolves ace now drops hint on future with cryptic social media post

Wolves loanee Fabio Silva has posted a cryptic message on social media after completing his loan spell at Rangers.

The 2023/24 season ended far from desired for Fabio Silva, who scored seven goals from 35 appearances over the campaign.

Gary O’Neil made the decision to send the Portuguese forward on loan to Rangers in January after failing to make an impact at Wolves, where he secured only eight Premier League apperances in the first half of the calendar.

On arriving at Ibrox, the 21-year-old’s season took another turn, as he fell short in his bid to impress in Glasgow, attracting less desired attention for his diving antics and poor form.

As Silva prepares to return to Molineux after his half-season with Rangers, a decision will be made over his future in O’Neil’s side however, the player has hinted at his plans on social media with a cryptic post.

On Wednesday, Silva took to Instagram to share a video overview of his 2023/24 season, including a clip of him in tears after conceding a late penalty during Wolves’ defeat to Sheffield United in November.

To sum up his season, the 21-year-old penned a lengthy caption, which included lines such as ‘This season I gained much more than I lost’ and ‘It was a year of learning and a year that made me a man.’

Interestingly, Silva ended the message with what could be interpreted as a goodbye to Wolves, saying:

“Thank you to everyone. To my parents, my brothers, family, friends and my agent. To Wolverhampton and Rangers.

“The important thing is to be desired and happy. And with them, I can do anything. Trust the process always.”

Regardless of his future plans, the £35m signing will return to Molineux to cement the next steps of his career.

Where next for Fabio Silva?

In March, Silva hinted that he would have liked to remain at Rangers permanently, however, the club opted against forming a deal to keep the Portuguese starlet at Ibrox.

One thing that looks certain is that the former Porto star will not be at Wolves next season, with the forward’s father telling the media back in February that his son ‘needs continuity’ in his career.

While things haven’t worked out for Silva at Molineux, there will be hope that the 21-year-old can settle at a club permanently to better his career, with him still being so young and in desperate need of guidance from a longer-term project.

What is a shame is that the money Wolves spent to sign the £80k-a-week outsider will not be returned in any capacity, with reports claiming that the Old Gold could push their luck to ask for £15m for a future sale.

It’s not worked for Silva at Wolves, with the door now needing to be closed so both club and player can progress without one another.
