Kate Middleton's absence at upcoming key event will be felt, says Maureen Callahan: ‘She brings the star power’

A royal commentator has claimed that Kate Middleton's absence will be felt at upcoming events after it was reported thatthe princess may not return to royal duties until 2025.

Princess Kate announced in March 2024 that she had undergone preventative chemotherapy after cancer was found in tests following a significant abdominal surgery earlier this year.

Speaking to GBN America, Daily Mail Columnist Maureen Callahan said: "I keep thinking about this announcement that was made very recently that Kate Middleton will probably not be making another public appearance this year.

"The Trooping of the Colour is coming up, Wimbledon is coming up, and she is such a huge presence at Wimbledon.

"These things are proving how important Kate Middleton is not just to the monarchy but to the future of the monarchy.

"It is she alone, really, who brings the glamour and the star power. But also the dignity, the class, and the way she composes herself through this incredibly difficult time.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

"She and William issued the statement over the weekend about the RAF pilot who was killed.

"Not putting herself and her struggle front and centre, which I think we can all agree would be the opposite of something Meghan Markle would do."

The princess is currently not scheduled to undertake any engagements for the rest of 2024.

A source told the Daily Beast: "Lots of people involved in planning need to know what all the principals are doing a long way in advance.

"I am told that Kate’s diary for this year is empty. There is nothing planned. She may not appear in public for the rest of the year."

Last week, a royal insider claimed the Princess of Wales is "in a very different position" to King Charles as she continues to recover from her cancer treatment.

King Charles returned to public-facing duties last month and has undertaken multiple royal engagements in May.

A source close to the royals claimed that the Princess of Wales will delay making decisions such as staff appointments while she recovers.

The insider told the Mail: "No one wants to put any pressure on Catherine. The only thing that matters at the moment is her getting better. She has been through an ordeal this year. What this means in practice is that big decisions, such as the appointment of new staff, can wait.

"It’s a reflection of Her Royal Highness’s importance to the future of the Monarchy that she has been given as much time as she needs."

They added: "As Sovereign, His Majesty is in a very different position from the Princess of Wales.

"There is no need for her to be seen while she’s recovering."
