Report: Arsenal considering move for 'outstanding' £15m Premier League star Gilberto Silva really rates

Bruno Guimaraes is not the only Premier League midfielder on the Arsenal radar heading into the summer transfer window, as the Gunners consider potential replacements for Thomas Partey.

It seems to be imperative that Arsenal make the right signings in the coming months after coming so close to winning the Premier League title in the last two seasons.

Thomas Partey could leave Arsenal, and thus, the Gunners are considering potential midfield targets.

TBR Football reported that Arsenal could make a move for Bruno Guimaraes should he indicate that he is interested in leaving Newcastle. But he is not the only option on Mikel Arteta’s radar.

Arsenal interested in Aston Villa star again this summer

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Douglas Luiz is back amongst the potential options Arsenal are weighing up a move for.

Douglas Luiz has been ‘outstanding’ during his time at Aston Villa, helping Unai Emery’s side qualify for the Champions League next season. He actually scored nine goals for the Villans this past season.

Gilberto Silva has previously backed Arsenal to make a move for Douglas Luiz. But it would appear that not everyone at the Emirates is entirely convinced about a potential move for the Brazilian.

Not everyone convinced by Douglas Luiz

David Ornstein suggested a few months ago that some at Arsenal had their doubts about a move for Luiz. So much may depend on how likely it is that they manage to sign some of their other targets.

Villa are certainly not going to make it easy for Arsenal to sign the 26-year-old. He only cost £15 million from Manchester City, but you would not be shocked if the Villans demanded several times that amount, particularly as they prepare to take their place at European football’s top table.

Arsenal may have greater priorities for this window, so a move may be unlikely. But it would certainly have the potential to be a real statement if they could strike a deal.
