Russian forces want to break into defense of Ukrainian army in Ocheretyne area

In the Pokrovsk direction, one of the most intense areas of the frontline, the Russian army has continued their attempts to breach the defenses of Ukrainian soldiers from the vicinity of the settlement of Ocheretyne, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The military command reported on the operational situation at the front as of 23:00 on May 29.

Russian attacks

The evening report notes that the Russian army is attempting to leverage its advantage in manpower and air support.

Since the start of the day, Russian soldiers have launched four missile strikes using four missiles and conducted 43 airstrikes with 69 KABs, deploying 364 kamikaze drones.

Additionally, the Russian army carried out 2,683 attacks on the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces and populated areas using various types of weaponry.

Frontline situation

A total of 102 combat engagements have taken place so far, according to the General Staff.

Since the beginning of the current day, the hottest spots remain in the Kupiansk and Pokrovsk directions.

In the Kharkiv direction, there have been seven combat engagements with Russian soldiers. Four attacks were repelled in the areas of the village of Lyptsi and the city of Vovchansk. Combat operations continue in Vovchansk, and the enemy's attack near the village of Starytsia is ongoing. The situation remains under control.

"Russia's losses in this direction amounted to 79 people for the current day. Ukrainian warriors destroyed an artillery system, 12 UAVs, 10 vehicles, and a piece of special equipment. Additionally, three ammunition depots and eight enemy personnel shelters were struck today," reported the General Staff.

In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy attempted 13 times to dislodge Ukrainian Armed Forces units from their positions. The battles occurred in the areas of Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Novoyehorivka, Druzheliubivka, Stepova Novoselivka, Andriivka, and Nevske.

"No positions were lost. Currently, fighting continues in four locations near Petropavlivka, Stepova Novoselivka, Druzheliubivka, and Nevske," the report states.

In the Lyman direction, five enemy attempts to advance were repelled in the areas of the villages of Terni, Torske, and in the Serebriansky Forestry. Fighting continues in the Terni area. The enemy has not achieved success. The situation remains under control.

In the Pokrovsk direction, throughout the day, Russian forces continued their attempts to breach the defenses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from the vicinity of Ocheretyne - nine attacks were repelled, and one is ongoing.

"Fighting is also taking place near Sokil, Nevelske, and Novoselivka Persha. In total, there have been 23 combat engagements in this direction. Our defenders are actively taking measures to stabilize the situation," noted the General Staff.

In other directions, the situation has not undergone significant changes.

Strikes by the Armed Forces of Ukraine against the enemy

The evening report also states that the defense forces' warriors, along the entire length of the combat line and in the rear, are depleting the enemy's offensive potential with fire.

"Today, the Air Force, missile forces, and artillery struck 14 areas of concentration of Russia's manpower," the General Staff reported.

Earlier, the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, noted that the Russian army is attempting to advance deeper into the territory in the Kharkiv direction but has not achieved success.
