“This is not true, Ukraine has not suspended anything,” public broadcaster Suspilne quotes Lubinets.
“The exchanges are not happening because Russia does not want them!”
He added that Russia continues to disregard the Geneva Conventions: the Ukrainian side was ready to start reciprocal inspections of POW detention locations on both sides, but Russia refused.
“Even the Turkish Ombudsman, who visited the camp for Russian prisoners of war, witnessed Ukraine’s openness firsthand,” said Lubinets.
“However, we have yet to see a corresponding visit to Russia.”

Earlier on May 29, Russia's Commissioner for Human Rights, Tatyana Moskalkova, claimed that the exchange of prisoners between Russia and Ukraine "has been suspended for several months." She accused Ukraine of making "unsubstantiated demands" for the exchanges and claimed to be in constant dialogue with the Ukrainian Ombudsman and the International Committee of the Red Cross.
The last POW swap between Ukraine and Russia took place on Feb. 8.
