Man Rushed To Hospital After Setting Himself On Fire Inside Of Plant City Publix

PLANT CITY, Fla. - A man was rushed to the hospital in critical condition Wednesday after police say he was on fire inside a Publix location in Plant City.

The Plant City Police Department responded to a disturbance call at the Publix Supermarket within the Walden Woods Shopping Plaza at 2202 James L. Redman Pkwy at 4:10 pm.

Police say the caller advised that a male subject was on fire inside the store.

Several people within the store worked to extinguish the flames. After doing so, Plant City Fire Rescue transported the injured person, a 30-year-old male, to a local hospital in critical condition.

The Plant City Police Department is assisting the Division of Investigative and Forensic Services with the investigation.
