90min's 2023/24 Premier League goals of the season - ranked

By Jude Summerfield

If there's one thing each Premier League season is never short of, it's spectacular and jaw-dropping goals.

The 2023/24 campaign was no different. From stunning solo runs and beautifully executed finishes to howitzers from distance, there were strikes for fans of all clubs to be stunned and marvelled by.

There seemed to be more screamers than usual during the season just past, so get ready to enjoy a delectable feast consisting of the most scrumptious goals scored in 2023/24.

20. Mateo Kovacic vs Luton Town

Mateo Kovacic doesn't score tap-ins. He only deals in the outrageous and sublime.

Arriving on the edge of the box against Luton Town, the Croatia international belted one in on the half volley with searing power.

19. Eddie Nketiah vs Sheffield Utd

Arsenal backup striker Eddie Nketiah likes to get his shots away quickly but long-range blockbusters aren't always his thing.

However, having scored twice in this 5-0 thumping of Sheffield United, Nketiah took a pop from distance and picked out the top corner.

18. Saman Ghoddos vs Burnley

Saman Ghoddos didn't score as much in England as he did in Sweden, but his strikes that did burst the back of the net weren't to be missed.

This sweetly-struck effort won Brentford's goal of the season award but it wasn't enough to keep him at the Gtech Community Stadium for another year.

17. David Datro Fofana vs West Ham

This banger wins the 'Had not seen this goal before compiling the shortlist' award from this clueless writer.

David Datro Fofana's rocket at West Ham United was remarkable, skipping through midfield before leaving Alphonse Areola clutching at thin air by hitting the top corner.

16. Mohammed Kudus vs Brentford

This isn't the last sensational Mohammed Kudus goal you'll see in this collection of otherworldly stunners.

The Ghana international lined up Michail Antonio's cross expertly at Brentford and hooked the ball back into the far corner with precision and power.

15. Trent Alexander-Arnold vs Fulham

Trent Alexander-Arnold actually scored a few gorgeous free-kicks against Fulham in 2023/24, but this one gets the nod thanks to the delicious crossbar effect.

A thrilling 4-3 win saw the England star whip this in from distance to help earn the Reds all three points.

14. Cole Palmer vs Everton

Nutmeg? Check. Back-heel flick? Check. Finish from outside the area? Check.

When he wasn't converting penalty after penalty in his debut season at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea talisman Cole Palmer caught the eye with his neat link-up play and devilish finishing, as shown with his first of a hat-trick against Everton in April.

13. Pervis Estupinan vs Tottenham

One touch, two touch, bang. Pervis Estupinan showed no signs of hesitation in cracking this shot into the top corner against Tottenham.

The Ecuadorian had just returned from injury, marking his comeback in style.

12. Rodrigo Muniz vs Sheffield Utd

Rodrigo Muniz was one of the breakout stars in the second half of 2023/24 and attracted more admiring glances with an injury-time scissor kick against Sheffield United.

The strike came in the 93rd minute, denying the Blades a rare victory having been 3-1 up.

11. Kobbie Mainoo vs Wolves

He later scored the goal that would win Man Utd the FA Cup, but Kobbie Mainoo's first Premier League effort was both a thing of beauty and a crucial match-winner.

A chaotic encounter had just gone to 3-3 after Pedro Neto equalised in second-half stoppage time, but there were enough minutes left for Mainoo to nutmeg Max Kilman, cut inside and curl wonderfully into the far corner.

10. Michael Olise vs Luton Town

Michael Olise is capable of wonderful things when he's fit, this goal against Luton Town being a prime example.

Combining both his silky dribbling skills and precise finishing ability, this gorgeous goal wasn't enough to prevent Crystal Palace falling to defeat to the Hatters.

9. Bruno Fernandes vs Burnley

A technician by every definition, Bruno Fernandes watched every second of Jonny Evans' floated ball forward and pinged it into the bottom corner.

It was enough for United to secure a 1-0 victory and was good enough to win any game.

8. Oscar Bobb vs Newcastle

Another goal for the purists, this goal is made by Kevin De Bruyne's brilliant pass and capped by Oscar Bobb's dazzling quick feet.

The Norwegian sealed Manchester City's wonderful comeback at Newcastle United by galloping over Kieran Trippier's desperate lunge and rounding Martin Dubravka with ease, all in the space of roughly a millisecond.

7. Mohammed Kudus vs Man City

There's always a strange smell in the air on the final day. Whether it's ridiculous scorelines or emotional farewells, sometimes the ridiculously sublime comes to the fore.

Kudus' overhead kick at Man City is a pretty good example. The hosts were coasting their way to the Premier League title but the cat was placed firmly among the pigeons when the Ghanian acrobatically powered the ball beyond Stefan Ortega.

6. Marcus Rashford vs Man City

Marcus Rashford loves a goal in the Manchester derby and this rocket arrived in just the eighth minute to get United fans dreaming of away day success at the Etihad Stadium.

A 3-1 defeat ultimately ensued but this effort remains one of the best of the season, hitting the crossbar so hard it could have broken it in half on another day.

5. Bruno Fernandes vs Liverpool

A more alert Jarell Quansah could have stopped this goal ever happening with more awareness of his surroundings, but take nothing away from the audacity and supreme craft of Fernandes' 45-yard strike.

Caoimhin Kelleher was caught out by the long-range effort, with Fernandes succeeding at his most opportunistic.

4. Kaoru Mitoma vs Wolves

Injury robbed Premier League fans of more Kaoru Mitoma magic, with the Japan international starting the campaign in sizzling form.

In Brighton & Hove Albion's 4-1 thrashing of Wolves in August, Mitoma breezed past Nelson Semedo and surged into the aching chasm of space vacated by some abject defending before finding the bottom corner.

3. Alexis Mac Allister vs Fulham

Liverpool and Fulham's duel at Anfield in December saw plenty of screamers leave each team's goalkeeper flapping, but Alexis Mac Allister's unbelievable howitzer was easily the pick of the bunch.

The way the ball fades from in to out into the top corner, the ripple from the back of the net, the eruption from the crowd; bellissimo.

2. Moises Caicedo vs Bournemouth

Moises Caicedo left the second-best goal of the Premier League season until the last day of the campaign.

While definitely aided by some questionable outfield play by Bournemouth goalkeeper Neto, the Chelsea midfielder bagged his first strike for the club in the most extraordinary fashion. No wonder Blues fans have been watching it on repeat.

1. Alejandro Garnacho vs Everton

Were we at 90min ever going to go against the masses and experts who voted Alejandro Garnacho's stunning overhead kick at Everton for our Premier League goal of the season?

No. There's contrarianism and then there's just battling against the plain obvious.

Running away from goal, the Argentina international nailed his jump and connected so perfectly that even Roy Keane - an ardent critic of Toffees and England stopper Jordan Pickford - had to admit the goalkeeper had no chance.
