Highclere Castle - home of Downton Abbey - welcomes hundreds of visitors for action-packed annual Highclere Show

Hundreds of visitors streamed into Highclere Castle for an action-packed spring fair.

There was something for everyone at this year’s Highclere Show, with a range of countryside attractions, have-a-go events and children’s activities.

New this year was the Legends Tribute Stage, which saw performances by Tom Jones, Diana Ross, Madonna, Elton John and Taylor Swift tribute acts.

Lord Carnarvon, who was manning a stall selling Highclere gin, said: “It’s great to have the country fair back here again. We love this event.

“Obviously it does need a bit of decent weather and it rained last night but now we have some sun, which is great.

“We have a lot of people here - all ages, families, enjoying every type of thing from the dog shows and the motorbikes out there and everyone’s stalls, different clothes, different things to buy.

“I think it’s a great day out in Highclere and I love it.”

Visitors were wowed by an impressive parachute display at the event, which was held in the grounds of the castle on Sunday and Monday (May 26-27).

The main arena also saw motorbike stars – some as young as five – jumping through rings of fire, as well as a display by the Spectacle of Equitation, which combined dancing and acrobatics with dressage and horseback stunts.

Falconry, the Vine and Craven hunt, gun dogs and simulated coursing were all on offer throughout the weekend for countryside enthusiasts.

And then there was all the delicious food and drinks stalls you expect to find at a county show and a children’s section that included bouncy castles, circus skills workshop and Punch and Judy shows.
