On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine: Texas trending for three 5-star WRs

In one year’s time, Steve Sarkisian changed the narrative around him as a head coach. Could James Franklin, Mario Cristobal do the same in 2024?

Everyone knows about the Texas two-step, but the Longhorns are looking to add a third when it comes to their 2025 recruiting class.

Steve Sarkisian and Co. are pursuing three five-star receivers in class: Dakorien Moore, Jaime Ffrench and Kaliq Lockett.

And after updated picks in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM), Texas leads in the race to land all three. On Tuesday, On3’s Chad Simmons and Steve Wiltfong both logged picks for the ‘Horns to land Ffrench, while Wiltfong added another for Texas to secure Lockett’s commitment.

And Moore, who decommitted from LSU earlier this month, has already been predicted to Texas by multiple insiders. The Longhorns hold a 78.3% chance of getting Lockett, a 95.9 percent chance of landing Moore and a 40.7 percent chance of adding Ffrench, per the RPM.

And according to InsideTexas.com recruiting insider Justin Wells, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see all three end up signing with the Longhorns.

“I do think all three would want to be on the same team together,” he said last week. “I think Texas leads for Jamie Ffrench right now, I’m even considering an RPM [prediction] later in the week. … I’m getting closer and closer with that one. Dakorien Moore has been at the top of the list since [receivers coach] Chris Jackson got the job. He’s been the No. 1 guy for 2025 for a while. And Kaliq Lockett caught up with the staff a few days ago, and he loves the idea of playing with fellow five-stars. If Texas were able to get three five-stars in this class in 2025 with Moore, Ffrench and Lockett, that reminds me of the Class of 2000 when they brought in Roy Williams, B.J. Johnson and Sloan Thomas. It’s on par with those guys.”

Longhorns are in ‘great shape’ to land all three five-stars

Each of the three will take official visits to Austin next month. Moore will be in town the weekend of June 14, while Lockett and Ffrench will be on campus the following weekend, June 21.

The trip will be the first for each since they all were on campus in April, and Wells added that he thinks that could be a pivotal moment if Texas were to land all three.

“All these guys hung out with each other on April 6 when they took an unofficial to Texas,” he said. “And they all left saying some of the same things, all on the same page. The idea that they get to play in this offense for a team whose trajectory is going nowhere but up — and catching passes potentially from Arch Manning at the next level. All signs point to Texas looking to be in great shape to land all three of those guys.”

Moore is the No. 3 overall prospect and No. 1 receiver in the 2025 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Lockett, meanwhile, checks in at No. 14 overall and the nation’s No. 2 wideout, with Ffrench just behind as the nation’s No. 5 WR and No. 23 prospect.
