‘Done you dirty’: Alex Albon can’t believe how low 30-race driver’s rating is in the new F1 24 game

The new F1 24 game is set to be released on Friday and as is always the case, the ratings each driver receives are highly contentious.

Unsurprisingly, Red Bull star Max Verstappen is the highest-rated driver in the game, earning an overall score of 95 out of 100.

On the Formula 1 YouTube channel, drivers were asked to predict and then react to their ratings.

Each driver is rated on four key categories: experience, racecraft, awareness and pace.

These all contribute to an overall rating which can be used to rank the drivers on the grid.

Williams driver Alex Albon was paired with teammate Logan Sargeant to assess their ratings on the new game.

The Thai driver simply couldn’t believe his teammate’s stats in F1 24 and believes they’ve been incredibly harsh on the American.

Alex Albon thinks Logan Sargeant’s ratings in F1 24 are very harsh

The ratings for F1 24 are based mainly on last season’s performances and results as well as the beginning of the 2024 campaign.

Last year was Logan Sargeant’s rookie season in Formula 1 and he’s now racked up 30 race weekends in his career – although only 29 race starts after giving up his chassis in Australia to his teammate.

In that time, it’s safe to say that Sargeant hasn’t kicked on like Williams would have hoped.

He only has a single championship point to his name and that came in Austin last year when Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc were disqualified.

Team principal James Vowles told Sargeant after he was handed a contract extension that he needed to be the surprise of the season to justify his place on the grid.

After the first eight race weekends, Sargeant hasn’t lived up to that expectation and currently sits bottom of the Drivers’ Championship.

Sargeant’s struggles when compared to Albon appear to have been reflected in his ratings in the F1 24 game.

He will want to look away when he looks at his stats compared to the rest of the Formula 1 grid.

Albon and Sargeant were revealing their ratings for the latest Formula 1 game and Albon received an overall score of 85.

That places him ahead of McLaren star Oscar Piastri and Frenchman Pierre Gasly and just behind Sergio Perez and George Russell.

However, Albon revealed Sargeant’s ratings and when uncovered an overall score of 70, prompting him to say: “What! Only a 70! They’ve done you dirty here.”

Sargeant doesn’t respond and it’s unknown whether he’s aware of just how far off the rest of the grid he is with that ranking.

The next-lowest-rated drivers are the trio of Kevin Magnussen, Lance Stroll and Zhou Guanyu.

They all received a rating of 80, meaning F1 24 believe Sargeant is a long way off the pace of the rest of the grid.

Does Logan Sargeant have a future in Formula 1?

Ultimately, Albon and Sargeant’s ratings have no bearing on what’s going on in the paddock, but Sargeant will be feeling the pressure right now.

Williams have been unable to deliver full upgrades to both cars and this season has shown that Vowles and the team are giving Albon preferential treatment.

Suggestions that Sargeant might be replaced halfway through the 2024 season continue to persist.

A former F1 driver has been linked with replacing Sargeant mid-season while Mercedes will be tempted to place Kimi Antonelli in his seat to give him some valuable experience ahead of potentially replacing Lewis Hamilton in 2025.

Sargeant needs a standout performance and result soon to show Williams why they should persist with him until at least the end of the season.
