More than 100 new homes in Swaffham set to be given green light

Plans for more than 100 new homes in a Norfolk town are set to be given the green light.

Breckland Council has been recommended by planning officers to approve the proposals for new housing in Swaffham.

This would see 150 homes, ranging from one to four bedrooms, built across the 15-acre site off Sporle Road.

The plans have been granted the support of the town council after developers agreed to include more than an acre of on-site open space and to contribute towards other outdoor recreation facilities across Swaffham.

This would include improvement works to the Orford Road playground – situated next to the site – along with pedestrian access from the new estate.

The council clerk added: “We just hope that the diggers will be breaking ground soon.”

The development, led by Crocus Contractors, also includes 60 affordable homes.

The application will be considered by Breckland Council’s planning committee on June 4.
