Chris Jones predicts his sack numbers for the upcoming 2024 season, he's going big

Chris Jones has made sure that he will be returning for the upcoming season and has made a big prediction for his sack numbers in 2024.

After the Chiefs had hoisted their second successive Super Bowl in the air over three months ago, the franchise knew they had a big decision to make.

The Kansas City Chiefs had two key players heading into free agency if they were not tied down to new contracts.

The Chiefs faced a defensive dilemma after winning a fourth franchise Super Bowl

Cornerback L’Jarius Sneed and defensive tackle Chris Jones had both proved to be vital pieces of Steve Spagnuolo’s defense.

Moreover, both stars were looking to be paid at the top of the market and the franchise’s cap space could not accommodate them both.

As a result, Brett Veach decided to use the non-exclusive franchise tag on Sneed.

The Tennessee Titans gave the Chiefs a third-round pick in 2025 and swapped seventh-rounders in 2024 for the defensive back.

Ultimately, the saga was over and the Chiefs made sure that Jones would retire with the franchise.

Chris Jones has been hard at work after tying down his long-term future

The legendary defensive tackle has been present at the Chiefs’ OTAs in May as they prepare for their historic three-peat season.

Furthermore, the two-time First-Team All-Pro will be hunting down the fourth ring of his career when they take the field against the Baltimore Ravens.

Jones was absent from the Chiefs’ opening-day 20-21 defeat against the Detroit Lions in 2023.

Ironically, this was over a contract dispute with the franchise as he was entering the final year of his deal.

Chris Jones predicts what his sack numbers will be in 2024 on X

The Chiefs’ official X account posted a video of Jones training during the second batch of OTAs in May.

They captioned the film with ‘CEO at work’ and Jones responded to the video with his own short and sweet message.

Jones posted on X, “20+sacks”.

Ultimately, the Chiefs DT must be feeling optimistic and re-energized for the upcoming season.

The five-time Pro Bowler has registered a career-high of 15.5 sacks during the regular season (2018 and 2022). Additionally, he posted two sacks in the 2022 playoffs, which brought his season total to 17.5.

If Jones wants a minimum of 20 sacks on the season, he would need to find another 2.5 sacks on his career best.
