During the July NATO summit, strengthening support for Ukraine will be one of the issues discussed by the leaders of alliance member countries, according to NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg.
According to Stoltenberg, steps will be taken during the meeting to invest in the alliance's security, strengthen ties with partners, and enhance support for Ukraine.
He added that the challenges Ukraine is facing today become greater. The country's success depends on decisive support from the North Atlantic Alliance.
"So at the Nato summit in July, we plan to put our support on a firmer footing. Including with a greater Nato role in coordinating security assistance and training, as well as a multi-year financial commitment," said the Secretary-General.
In particular, during the meeting, the issue of enhancing cooperation with NATO partners in the Indo-Pacific region will be discussed. This includes Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and others.
"At our ministerial, the Foreign Ministerial Meeting tomorrow, we will also discuss how to address instability in our southern neighbourhood, including the continuing threat of terrorism," added Stoltenberg.
NATO summit
The summit is scheduled for July 9-11 in Washington, DC. According to Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Olha Stefanishyna, Ukraine expects the allies to make decisions on strengthening the country's air and missile defense. In particular, as she mentioned, the issue of inviting Ukraine to NATO remains on the agenda.
