'What I'm told': £60m star would join Manchester United over Chelsea if given choice this summer - journalist

Journalist Ben Jacobs has suggested that one Premier League player would opt to join Manchester United over Chelsea if given a choice between the two in the summer transfer window.

It is going to be a fascinating summer at Old Trafford, with doubts persisting over the future of Erik ten Hag. This will also be the first transfer window with Ineos in charge of proceedings, so fans will be hoping that the club look to make a real statement.

It was such a disappointing season at Manchester United, despite their FA Cup win. They registered their lowest Premier League finish ever, so it is not going to be easy to land some of their top targets.

But the good news is that one Premier League star is seemingly very keen to join United in the window.

Premier League star would prefer to join Manchester United

Michael Olise may have missed a large part of the campaign due to injury, but enjoyed a real breakout year with Crystal Palace; scoring 10 goals in just 19 games in the top-flight.

TBR Football previously reported that Crystal Palace have informed his admirers that his release clause – worth more than £60 million – will need to be triggered to get a deal done.

Speaking on The United Stand, Ben Jacobs has suggested that Olise would jump at the chance to join United if they make an offer Palace accept.

“I’ve no doubt that Manchester United will be firmly in the conversation for Michael Olise. From what I’m told, he wants to join Manchester United as well. Given a straight choice between Chelsea and Manchester United, his preference is Manchester United, is my understanding,” he said.

Rivals cannot ruled out of Michael Olise race

Jacobs appears to believe that Manchester United and Chelsea lead the charge for Olise, but a number of rival clubs have also been linked with the youngster.

Newcastle apparently view Olise as a priority, while Arsenal have been picked out as favourites to sign Olise elsewhere.

So the race could definitely heat up over the next few months, particularly if the uncertainty surrounding Manchester United continues much longer.
