Manchester United stance on Altay Bayindir amid speculation over Celtic move this summer - Journalist

Manchester United back-up goalkeeper Altay Bayindir only made one appearance all season, now the club’s stance on him has been reported.

Last summer Manchester United overhauled the entire goalkeeping department, with the exit of David de Gea, Dean Henderson and Matej Kovar seeing Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir arrive in place.

Onana has been an immovable object in goal, even putting off his journey to the AFCON in January to play with Erik ten Hag quite clearly not trusting Bayindir in goal.

In his one appearance this season so far this season, Bayindir conceded twice to Newport in the FA Cup, which hardly leaves anyone with confidence.

This summer, he’s been linked with a move away from Old Trafford and now United’s stance has been reported by a journalist.

How Manchester United are feeling over Altay Bayindir ahead of the summer transfer window

The back-up United keeper has been reported lately to be set for a move to Celtic this summer.

It has come through reports from Turkey, with Aksam reporting that the 26-year-old had been offered a four-year contract with the Scottish Premiership champions.

However, Chris Wheeler of the Daily Mail has now reported to the contrary that his United sources have denied speculation over the Turkish goalkeeper moving.

Bayindir however does have a decision to make this summer, as it’s unclear if he will be happy to stay at United despite just one appearance this season.

Ineos would have to replace Bayindir

If he was to leave this summer, Bayindir would be a player United would need to replace and Ineos have a couple of interesting options.

If a solid backup is wanted, United will have to play him and can’t limit whoever arrives to one appearance all season.

But signing a promising goalkeeper to support and eventually succeed Onana could be the right move for the Red Devils.

Zion Suzuki fits the bill perfectly, a year after he was initially targeted by United. But he’s now proven himself by being the best keeper in Belgium over the past season and could be a smart signing to be a cup keeper next season.
