The 2024 Lott IMPACT Trophy Watch List was announced today by the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation during a luncheon in Newport Beach. The luncheon had a decided USC slant to it. The award is named after legendary USC safety Ronnie Lott, who was on hand to address those in attendance. And the keynote speaker at the luncheon was USC defensive coordinator D’Anton Lynn.

The Lott IMPACT Trophy prides itself on being the only major college football award that considers character in its nominees and chosen winner. It goes to the defensive player who makes the biggest IMPACT on his team both on and off the field. IMPACT, in this case, stands for Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity.

Given annually since 2004, no USC player has ever won the award. UCLA and Alabama have two winners while Michigan has three, including 2023 recipient Junior Colson.

There are 42 nominees on the Watch List this season, including USC safety Kamari Ramsey. The 6-foot, 204-pound defensive back from Palmdale transferred from UCLA to USC this offseason and is set to take over as a starting safety in a new-look Trojans’ secondary under Lynn and position coach Doug Belk. Last season, Ramsey had 40 tackles, including 2.5 for loss, five pass deflections and an interception.

In the classroom, Ramsey earned placement on the 2023 Pac-12 Fall Academic Honor Roll and was named to the UCLA Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for fall of 2022 and both spring and fall of 2023.
