Former President Donald Trump's media company crafted a "contingency plan" to keep operating without disruption in the event that the former president was convicted of a felony, reported Forbes on Thursday.

It's a plan they could now have to put into action, with the former president convicted on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in the Manhattan hush money case.

"In an October 2021 merger agreement between Digital World Acquisition Corp. and Trump Media & Technology Group, the parent company of Truth Social, the firms disclosed they had a plan to mitigate any issues that might arise should the former president be convicted of a felony," reported Zach Everson. "When identifying potential 'material disruptive events' in the filing made with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the companies listed two possibilities: Trump announces he’s running for public office or Trump’s convicted of a felony criminal offense."

According to the report, "In that merger agreement, which Trump signed, Digital World and Trump Media said they had a plan to maximize business continuity and to minimize any negative impacts from either a Trump presidential run or felony conviction. But those plans were vague: 'The company principal’s ownership and position in the company shall be structured in such a way as to eliminate the need for restructuring of ownership or changes in position were a material disruptive event to occur.'"

With Trump convicted in the case, he will be sentenced on June 11, just days before the Republican National Convention. District Attorney Alvin Bragg has not ruled out asking Judge Juan Merchan to issue a prison sentence — although Merchan could ultimately choose to just issue fines and probation.

Trump has three other criminal cases pending, although those cases are all varying degrees of unlikely to make it to trial before the presidential election this year.
