Donald Trump becomes first US president to be convicted of a crime - would you support Trump in US election? Vote in flash poll

Donald Trump has become the first US president to be convicted of a crime after a New York jury found him guilty of falsifying documents to cover up a payment to silence former adult film star Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 election.

The former US president was found guilty on all 34 felony counts he faced, after the 12-member jury deliberated for two days.

Sentencing has been set for July 11, just days before the Republican Party is set to formally nominate Trump for president ahead of the US election on November 5.

Trump, 77, has denied wrongdoing and an attorney representing him said they would appeal the verdict as quickly as possible.

The 45th US president told reporters last night: "This was a disgrace," as he proclaimed his innocence and claimed the trial had been rigged against him.

"The real verdict is going to be Nov. 5 by the people," he added.

A survey from CNN/SSRS in April found that 76 per cent of Trump supporters said they would support Trump regardless while 24 per cent said they "might reconsider" their support for him if he was convicted.

A May poll from Emerson College found 25 per cent of voters said a guilty verdict in New York would make them less likely to vote for Trump.

If you could vote in the US election, has the verdict changed whether you would back Trump?
