Djordje Petrovic hails £45m Arsenal target with ‘everything’ as Chelsea rival transfer

Djordje Petrovic ‘absolutely’ believes a £45m Arsenal target can play in the Premier League as his Chelsea side now start to eye a rival transfer for the summer window.

The Blues goalkeeper has given the Stamford Bridge natives the green light to make a splash in the off-season market. Chelsea are ready to dip their toes in the water once again as they move on from Mauricio Pochettino having sacked the manager and turned to Enzo Maresca.

One of the key positions Chelsea are desperate to improve for Maresca is their attack, which could see the west London outfit rival Arsenal in the transfer window. The capital clubs want to strengthen their strike forces after a lack of consistent output from their recognised No9s.

Chelsea and Manchester United rival Arsenal for the transfer of Benjamin Sesko

Arsenal strikers Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah only scored four and five goals over their 27 Premier League appearances respectively. Meanwhile, Nicolas Jackson offered Chelsea 14 in 35 games. But Armando Broja scored once in 13 and Christopher Nkunku scored three in 11.

So, the Mirror reports that Chelsea are now looking to rival Arsenal regarding the transfer of Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig. Manchester United also admire the 21-year-old, who has a further flurry of European suitors. But Arsenal head the race as Sesko favours a move to N5.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is eager to sign a young striker who will grow at Emirates Stadium beside Kai Havertz. RB Leipzig are even not against selling Sesko, who only arrived in Saxony last summer, for £45m. Arsenal may now swoop for Sesko after scouting the striker all term.

Djordje Petrovic feels Benjamin Sesko is ‘absolutely’ ready for the Premier League

Chelsea are not yet out of contention to beat Arsenal to Sesko’s transfer from RB Leipzig this summer, though. Petrovic has also given the Blues a glowing report of what the striker, who turned 21 this Friday, could offer. He is convinced that Sesko is ready for the Premier League.

Petrovic has told Nogomania: “I know and have been following him. He’s having a good half-season, he’s in great scoring form. I read that he’s scored in his last seven matches in a row. He seems to have gained strong momentum for the Euros.

“He’s a forward who has everything a modern player needs. He’s tall, strong, fast and intelligent. I’ve watched some of his matches, of course he can play in the Premier League, absolutely! He has great potential and he’s been successfully proving it in recent months.”

Chelsea and Manchester United are set to rival Arsenal’s interest in Sesko’s transfer from RB Leipzig after the Radece native scored 14 goals in 31 Bundesliga games this term. He fired 11 of those in 2024 alone, including once in each of his last seven matches as Petrovic notes.

Sesko clearly left a big impression on Arsenal during the Gunners’ frequent trips to scout the forward, too. Additional reports by the Mirror claim that Arsenal now see Sesko as their top striker target. So, Arteta will no doubt love hearing that he also favours joining the Gunners.
