Ukraine could use weapons supplied by Western countries, including Germany, to fend off enemy attacks across the border into Russian territory bordering the Kharkiv region, according to a representative of the German government.

According to him, the weaponry should be used in accordance with international law.

The spokesperson for the Ukrainian president, Serhii Nykyforov, announced that Ukraine had received permission from the US to utilize American weaponry for strikes on Russian territory. The decision allows Ukraine to employ the HIMARS missile systems provided by the US to target Russian troops and command-and-control centers.

Earlier, several American media outlets, citing sources among US officials, reported that President Joe Biden had authorized the use of provided US weaponry to strike "counterfire targets" against Russian forces attacking the northern Kharkiv region.
