Exclusive: Burnley offer manager's job to boss who Vincent Kompany once called 'amazing'

Burnley have been left shell-shocked by the departure of Vincent Kompany but could now be close to appointing their next manager.

The Clarets were relegated with Kompany at the helm but that didn’t stop Bayern Munich from coming in and snapping up the Belgian.

Kompany, of course, had little choice but to go to one of the biggest clubs in the world and Burnley’s higher ups accepted that.

However, the Burnley board have sprung into action quickly to find a new manager and it looks like they might have settled on the man they want.

Burnley offer Frank Lampard job to replace Vincent Kompany

TBR Football understands that Frank Lampard has been offered the head coach job at Burnley and talks are now underway.

The Clarets have been assessing their options and talking about the direction they wanted to go in terms of replacing Vincent Kompany.

Lampard has been out of work since 2023 when he served as interim boss for Chelsea, which came shortly after he left his role with Everton.

The former Chelsea midfielder remains highly-regarded in footballing circles and his status in the game means he’ll have impressed at Turf Moor.

Lampard has a point to prove

There’ll be some who think going for Lampard is a bit of an odd move but in reality, his last two jobs have been in testing circumstances.

He kept Everton up working under a board with no money and losing control week by week. While at Chelsea, he was there to settle the ship after probably being a touch of his depth in his first spell.

However, Lampard did well with Derby and that’s what Burnley will be hoping he can deliver and more.

Indeed, Vincent Kompany even labelled Lampard as an ‘amazing‘ coach in the past.

A risky appointment in a way, yes. But Lampard could be what’s needed and his name means Burnley will attract big players this summer.
