It’s time to dive into Friday’s top tweets and headlines about the Nittany Lions and college athletics.

Penn State tweets of the day

We start with Pro Football Focus’ list of the top 10 quarterback rooms in college football ahead of the 2024 season. Penn State checks in at No. 9.

Drew Allar might be the most disrespected quarterback in college football, often receiving the blame for the offense’s struggles despite regularly being hamstrung by his environment,” Max Chadwick writes. “Allar’s 86.3 grade was a top-20 mark among FBS quarterbacks, and he ranked second to only Bo Nix in turnover-worthy play rate (1.1%). He’s one of the 10 best signal-callers in the nation right now.

“Allar’s backup, Beau Pribula, posted an impressive 79.8 PFF grade on 142 snaps last season. The Nittany Lions also added true freshman Ethan Grunkemeyer to their quarterback room.

Georgia checks in at No. 1 while a pair of Penn State’s Big Ten foes, Oregon (No. 2) and Ohio State (No. 4), also crack the top 10.

The Nittany Lions hired new offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki to bring both Allar and the offense as a whole to a better place in 2024. Chadwick’s point is fair that the others on offense, especially the receivers, around the Penn State passer were not always up to snuff. But, neither was the Ohio native in the biggest games of the 2023 season. Unlocking and properly utilizing all of the roster’s talent on offense, regardless of opponent, will be the play callers’ biggest task.
