The press secretary of the President of Ukraine, Serhii Nikiforov stated that Ukraine has received permission from the United States to use American weapons for strikes on Russian territory. However, the US has set limitations, according to The Guardian.

The Guardian notes that this decision allows Ukraine to use the HIMARS missile systems provided by the US to strike Russian military forces and command and control centers.

According to the President's press secretary, Ukraine has begun to receive positive signals through diplomatic channels regarding the limited use of American weapons in the region near Kharkiv.

Additionally, earlier, journalist Ostap Yarysh from Voice of America, citing a US official spokesperson, reported that President Joe Biden recently instructed his team to ensure that Ukraine can use the provided weapons to strike back at Russian positions preparing attacks on the Kharkiv region.

In recent weeks, discussions have been ongoing about Western partners allowing Ukraine to use provided weapons for strikes on Russian territory.

Several countries have given positive signals, including the Baltic States, Poland, Finland, Denmark, Czechia, Canada, and others. However, some countries, like Italy, have opposed the idea.

However, the United States' position has been crucial in this matter. The Pentagon stated that Ukraine could only use American weapons on the battlefield, while US Secretary of State Antony Blinken hinted that Ukraine chooses how to fight, so the position could change.

Recently, The Washington Post reported that the US allows the use of its weapons on Russian territory if it poses a threat to Ukraine. This includes anti-missile defense systems to destroy missiles and aircraft near Ukraine.

It's worth noting that Ukraine possesses American HIMARS rocket systems and Patriot air defense missile systems. Additionally, the US has provided Ukraine with long-range ATACMS missiles.
