Farndon Memorial Hall received £10,000 lottery grant for essential repair works

A village hall has received a £10,000 lottery grant in order to repair the vital community space.

Farndon Memorial Hall, on Marsh Lane, was originally built in the 1976 and in some aspects has seen better days.

The grant will cover the cost of replacing the original wooden fire doors which no longer locked properly and had become unsafe.

It will also help towards completing the replacement of guttering which currently leak water onto the brickwork and into the building.

Judy Dodson, chairman of the trustees of Farndon Memorial Hall, said: “We are delighted and relieved to learn the application for essential repairs was granted.

“The hall is very important in the community, we hire it out for parties, wedding receptions, pilates classes, junior boxing matches and even dog shows.

“We can’t thank the lottery enough for their help, without it the trustees would not be able to keep up with these essential repairs.”
