Report: Premier League giants have now decided they will not be signing £30m Leeds United player this summer

Leeds United have already acknowledged that some key players will have to leave the club this summer.

Leeds were beaten 1-0 in the play-off final by Southampton on Sunday and so preparations are already underway for another season of Championship football.

With a reduction in parachute payments in the second season after relegation, chairman Paraag Marathe knows player sales are needed to help do that.

Having said that, Marathe has promised funds will be available to spend for Daniel Farke, while Red Bull’s minor investment is also expected to help, meaning optimism should be high Leeds can find some strong replacements.

And Leeds will certainly be hoping they can get those sales done as early as possible so they have plenty of time to bring them new players and bed them into the squad.

Liverpool make transfer decision on Leeds star Crysencio Summerville

Despite the window not actually opening until June 14, there has not been a shortage of interest in some members of Leeds’ squad.

Though Leeds’ inexperience may have played a part in costing them promotion at the business end of the season, younger players are always the most sellable assets and attractive to other clubs.

Having won the Championship POTS last month, Crysencio Summerville appears the most likely to depart this summer, with Premier League interest in his services high.

Liverpool and Chelsea are among the sides who have most heavily been linked with him, but according to the Daily Mirror, the former have made a decision on whether to make their move.

It is said that Liverpool have actually opted against firming up their interest in Summerville, and are instead looking elsewhere in their pursuit of attacking reinforcements.

That may come as a surprise given the appointment of Feyenoord boss Arne Slot as Jurgen Klopp’s replacement, the club in which Summerville began his career.

Leeds demanding £30 million for Summerville

Summerville still has two years left to run on his deal and after such a good individual season, Leeds are in a strong position at the negotiating table.

In fact, it has been reported Leeds will demand in excess of £30 million to sell him, which would represent significant profit given they spent just £1.3 million to sign him in 2020.

It remains to be seen where Summerville will end up, but if they were to bring in that sort of fee, it would be good business for all parties involved.

Summerville did enough in the season to earn himself a big move, and whoever buys him will be getting a talented young player. It would also be massive for Leeds financially.
