Crimson Countdown: No. 91 Drew Heinig
2023 stats: Redshirted.
2024 outlook:
Heinig, a product of Glenpool, Okla., has impressive size for such a young player in the Sooners program. At 6-foot-5 and 280-pounds he is a quality depth piece for Oklahoma as they move through their first season in the SEC.
Heinig is more than just a big body though he was a state title winning shot putter for the Warriors, throwing well over 60 feet in regionals.
Though it seems unlikely that he’ll have a large role in 2024, he’s a player that brings a more unique skillset than is often associated with walk-ons.
2025 Defensive Tackle Outlook
The No. 1 question mark for OU this season. The Sooners are loaded across the board until you get to defensive tackle. There is potential, no doubt, but not a lot of production. Da’Jon Terry is going to be the leader of the group. The crown jewel of the transfer portal was Damonic Williams, from TCU, so the expectations are through the roof there. After that? It’s going to be about who wants to step up among Gracen Halton, Davon Sears, Champ Sanders, Markus Strong and the young guys in David Stone and Jayden Jackson.
