US President Joe Biden has permitted Ukraine to use the transferred US weapons to strike Russia, stated US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

He noted that after the Russian offensive in the Kharkiv region began, Ukraine requested permission from the United States to use American weapons for defense. This refers to attacks on enemy soldiers concentrated on the other side of the border.

"And that went right to the President, and as you've heard, he's approved use of our weapons for that purpose. Going forward, we'll continue to do what we've been doing, which is as necessary adapt and adjust," the US Secretary of State said.

What preceded it

So far, information about the US allowing Ukraine to strike Russian territory with its weapons only appeared in Western media, citing unnamed sources.

Journalists wrote that Washington had permitted strikes only on the part of the Russian territory adjacent to the Kharkiv region.

Before that, the US had repeatedly stated that it did not allow Ukraine to use its weapons to attack Russian territory.
