Report: Man City have now set their price tag to sell Kalvin Phillips this summer

Manchester City have set their asking price to sell Kalvin Phillips during the upcoming summer transfer window.

The midfielder has had a difficult time at the Etihad Stadium since joining from Leeds United in a deal worth £45m back in 2022.

After starting just six of the 31 games he’s appeared in for the Blues, the Englishman was loaned out to West Ham United during the previous January transfer window.

With the season now over and the summer transfer window close to opening, some behind-the-scenes details have emerged regarding City’s stance on Phillips.

According to a recent report from Sport, City are looking to sell Phillips this summer for a fee of €30m (£25m).

During his spell at West Ham, the 28-year-old started three of the eight Premier League games he appeared in.

His overall performances across those eight league games earned Phillips a disappointing 5.89/10 from WhoScored, making him the lowest-rated player in the entire Hammers squad.

Phillips must find a new side

Bearing in mind how Pep Guardiola said back in December that he struggles to visualise the England international in his ideal City team, it seems unlikely that he’ll be getting regular minutes at the Manchester club moving forward.

Taking that into account, it’s understandable why City would be willing to accept a lower fee than the one they paid to sign Phillips in the first place this summer if it got him off their books.

On the flip side, if the Citizens don’t find themselves with any transfer offers coming their way to sign Phillips, it could be an idea to loan him out again and hope that he gets the chance to play regularly.

With that in mind, recent reports have claimed that Everton are exploring the possibility of signing the midfielder on loan this summer, which could be an ideal next step for the former Leeds star.
