BBNBA: PJ Washington is going to the NBA Finals

The Western Conference Finals were largely one-sided as the Dallas Mavericks held firm control throughout the series. The Minnesota Timberwolves’ defense was just no match for the offensive firepower that Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving produced.

As a result, former Kentucky forward PJ Washington and the Mavericks steam-rolled the Timberwolves in Game 5, advancing to the NBA Finals following a 124-103 victory.

Despite a rough start to the series, Karl-Anthony Towns wound up being one of the more positive points of focus for the Timberwolves. In what would be their last game of the season, KAT scored 28 points, which would be tied for a team-high alongside rising star Anthony Edwards. He also had 12 rebounds to give himself a double-double on the night.

As for Washington, he posted 12 points of his own, shooting 4-9 (2-5 3PT) from the field. He also had seven rebounds and two steals, making his presence felt on both ends of the floor. Ever since Washington arrived in Dallas ahead of the trade deadline, he has been more than valuable.

The former All-SEC selection went from missing key free throws against Kansas State in the Sweet 16 (sorry for the reminder) to being the 3rd best player, behind two future Hall of Famers, on an NBA Championship contender.

The 2024 NBA Finals are slated to start on June 6th in Boston. Tipoff is at 8:30 p.m EST on ABC.
