US President Joe Biden comments for the first time on the court's decision to find former President Donald Trump guilty.

"The American principle that no one is above the law was reaffirmed. Donald Trump was given every opportunity to defend himself, it was a state case, not a federal case. He was heard by a jury of twelve citizens, twelve Americans, twelve people like you," he said, speaking to journalists.

He reminded that the jury had spent five weeks listening to the evidence and reached a unanimous verdict - Trump was found guilty on all 34 counts.

"That's how the American system of justice works. And it's reckless, it's dangerous, it's irresponsible for anyone to say this was rigged just because they don't like the verdict," added Biden.

What preceded it

The court found former US President Donald Trump guilty of bribing porn actress Stormy Daniels for keeping silent about their sexual encounter.

Thus, Trump may face imprisonment, but this is unlikely, according to Western media.
